Antibiotics – acceptable evil
When we speak of antibiotics should not save neither superlatives nor criticism. And people are often quite stupidly suited to them. Some people buy them without a prescription, which in any case it is not advisable, but by law is forbidden to be sold without prescription. Others do not accept them even when they are discharged from their doctor. And yet, how to draw maximum benefit from antibiotics and to minimize damage from them.
1. Why the medicine is “not working”
There are cases where antibiotics do not help recovery. You should know that they are only effective in the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections, ie against viral illnesses such as flu and colds, they are meaningless. Adoption of any antibiotic can lead to resistance – living microbes in the body ceases to react to it and if need be necessary to appoint another. Many of today’s antibiotics act only on the agents of specific diseases. Their specificity is well known to doctors. Spontaneous selection of an antibiotic (even without instructions to read) is useless, and may be dangerous to health. Only a doctor can assess the possible allergic reaction, interaction and possible exacerbation of chronic diseases. “Quine” of antibiotics can lead to asthma, hives or problems with kidneys and liver, and distortion in the balance of gut micro-floor.
2. Let them drink all the way!
Improving health and lowering the temperature 2-3 days after taking antibiotics is not a reason for his suspension. To heal a person must complete a full course of treatment prescribed by a doctor. Experts recommend that both the antibiotic to be taken and yogurt. It really supports lactobacteria who live in the intestine, but not enough protective equipment. To avoid allergic reactions often employ antibiotics doctors “under the guise of the antihistamines (allergy) means, but even then not 100% guarantee that we will avoid the allergy. Particularly important is the choice of an appropriate antibiotic for people suffering from allergies. Blood tests for antibodies to various antibiotics help to determine which of them are less dangerous.
The risk of developing allergies when antibiotics are passed from parents to children. Antibiotics destroy harmful bacteria that cause acute infectious diseases – angina, pneumonia, cystitis. They are often life-saving, but at the same time and destroy the beneficial bacteria that produce enzymes and vitamins and minerals to ensure absorption, strengthen the immune defense and regulating the absorption of fatty acids and hormones in the intestine. Due to the reduction of bacteria weakens immunity. Often there is the following paradox: on one hand the immunity is weak, the body can not cope with the harmful bacteria and antibiotics is required, but on the other hand, when immunity is weak, antibiotics are particularly dangerous.
To minimize the negative influence of antibiotics are prescribed:
- Probiotics to increase the beneficial bacteria. But antibiotic kills some of them even during their way to the intestine. Therefore the most successful act in probiotics, which are in capsule form.
- Prebiotics – they strengthen the body with lactobacteria bifida and, reaching the intestine where stimulate the growth of “good” bacteria. Many prebiotics contained in onions, garlic, dairy products, bread, legumes, bananas.
- Symbiotics – complex products that support living bacteria and their food.
